Penzance Association Football Club was founded in 1888, the same year as the establishment of the Football League. One year later the club became a founder member of the Cornwall County Football Association.
The team, known as the Magpies on account of their black and white shirts (although they now play in white shirts and black shorts), play at the football ground at Penlee Park, Penzance, quite close to the seafront. The football ground, opened by Sir Stanley Rous in 1952, has a 550 seat stand, a clubhouse, tea hut and parking.
Penzance Association Football Club's First Team plays in the South West Peninsula League Division One West. The Reserve Team plays in the Cornwall Combination League.

The South West Peninsula League is an English football league, which was formed in 2007 from the merger of the Devon County League and the South Western League. The league consists of a Premier Division, which is ranked at Step 6 in the National League System, and a Division One East and Division One West, which are both ranked at Step 7 in the National League System. Teams winning the Premier Division may be promoted into the Western Football League Premier Division.
Penzance Association Football Club played in the South Western League from its formation in 1951 until its merger into the South West Peninsula League. The club won the League in 1955/56, 1956/57 and 1974/75.
The Cornwall Combination League is an English football league based in the western half of Cornwall. The league has a single division, which sits at level 12 of the English football league system. Teams winning the league may apply for promotion to the South West Peninsula League, which is a level 11 league. The Cornwall Combination League provides the highest standard of league play from clubs solely within Cornwall. However, no Cornwall Combination clubs are currently eligible for national competitions.
The Cornwall Women's Football League was formed in November 1998 after a number of Cornish football clubs had begun playing ladies friendly matches. The League started with six clubs, but this has now grown to 15 in two divisions.
